In this head-to-head field test, Swiftwater Energy replaced Shell Rotella 15W-40 with PXP Diesel Engine Oil in its fleet of diesel-powered pumping equipment. After 1,000 operational hours, a third-party oil analysis lab confirmed that PXP maintained a finishing viscosity two points higher than Shell Rotella at just 500 hours. The analysis also revealed a 40% reduction in wear metals, produced water contamination, and acid content when compared to Rotella samples.
Edward Carrasco, Maintenance Director at Swiftwater Energy, shared the impact of the switch: "We've seen a 50% reduction in overall oil consumption as the PXP Diesel Engine Oil outlasts the Rotella product by double the running hours. More importantly, the dramatic drop in engine failures and wear has completely changed our approach - we’ve begun purchasing more equipment rather than renting it due to reduced maintenance costs and longer equipment life."
This test further solidifies Permian Production Lubricants’ reputation for producing high-performance, application-specific lubricants that exceed industry benchmarks in harsh field conditions.
